River Valley Holdings Shortens Order Lead Times and Automates Labor Intensive Picking Processes with HighJump Warehouse Edge

River Valley Holdings headquartered in Syracuse, New York is a full service grocery distributor serving retail customers across the Northeast since 1985. River Valley combines expertise in products and categories with hands-on service at store level to maximize its customers’ profitability. The company specializes in providing exceptional products and services to customers in the grocery, specialty, convenience and drug store channels. The diverse line of specialty, gluten free, natural, ethnic, snack, frozen and dry grocery products make up over 12,000 SKUs in its 225,000 square foot warehouse that spans across three facilities.

At Elevate 2017, the HighJump Warehouse Edge™, formerly AccellosOne WMS, community joined Garrett Redmon, Director of Purchasing and Operations at River Valley Holdings, to learn more about how another user utilizes the WMS. With 27,000 labels printed and cases shipped daily, River Valley has greatly benefited from the software automating its labor intensive picking process and increasing order fulfillment capabilities. Attendees at Elevate 2017 also learned how River Valley has gained shorter order lead times due to picking slots being replenished in advance. The software has also provided the capabilities to manage multiple waves of advanced replenishment with complex criteria and flex slotting areas for special distributions.

Having compliance and traceability throughout the supply chain is a high priority in an industry with increasingly strict regulations. The warehouse management solution ensures proper rotation of first expiry, first out due to its efficient expiration date tracking capabilities. River Valley now has the invaluable tools in place for custom reporting of products in the warehouse going out of code and a solution that knows the minimum acceptable dates at receiving. HighJump thanks Garrett Redmon for his time and contribution here at Elevate 2017 and for a peek into the operations and successes at River Valley Holdings.
