Jerry Zhang attributes his international experience as the key to his career success. Serving as an international sales consultant in HighJump’s Shanghai facility, the Appalachian State University alumni was well prepared to enter the supply chain job market.
Originally from China, Zhang came to Appalachian State in 2012 to study supply chain management. Belonging to numerous school societies, including the Appalachian Supply Chain Management Club (of which he was president), Zhang was able to connect and network with industry professionals. This included fellow Appalachian grad and HighJump Senior Vice President David Houser. The pair met when Houser was serving as a guest lecturer on trends in the supply chain.
Zhang had gained previous experience in global logistics through an internship at Cairo University and a second internship at Appalachian State with THI- Global Logistics. It was through both these internships and his introduction to David Houser that Zhang knew he wanted to pursue a career at HighJump.
