Dental City Automates Warehouse Operations to Gain 300% More Business

Founded in 1993, Dental City was built from scratch, one customer at a time and vendor-by-vendor taking great pride in gaining customers the old-fashioned way with superior service and fair prices. Dental City is a leading distributor of a wide array of quality dental supplies to dentists across the United States today, servicing nearly 13,000 dentist customers and selling all types of consumable supplies, such as gloves, masks, and anesthetics.

Before implementing HighJump Warehouse Management System (WMS), Dental City had reached its operational capacity utilizing paper processes for picking, shipping and invoicing. Once the owners recognized that further growth wouldn’t be achievable on a manual system, the search for various solutions began to gain more control of its 40,000 square foot distribution center located in Green Bay, WI.

Ultimately, Dental City selected HighJump because of its stable, rock-solid WMS integration with Microsoft Dynamics GP.

“We knew the solution was going to work for us and when we evaluated all the different options, [the HighJump WMS] had a lot to offer and was a very good fit for us going from no automation at all into an automated world,” said Terri Pawer, VP, General Manager at Dental City.

Furthermore, she expressed that they “continuously say the HighJump application just works and it doesn’t cause any problems. We’ve gone through two upgrades and still continue to be very happy with the solution.”

By leveraging the foundation of HighJump WMS to grow sustainably, Dental City has gone from nearly 15 million dollars in sales to an estimated 40 million dollars in sales this year and has achieved 300 percent more business.

Today, the dental supplies distributor is doing roughly five percent of sales through eCommerce. The eCommerce orders flow in through its order entry system into Microsoft Dynamics GP and seamlessly down into the HighJump WMS. With its recent growth within the last year, Dental City has added additional EDI capabilities utilizing the HighJump toolset to further streamline and enhance its operations.

“One of the biggest things that has impressed me with HighJump is the company vision for the future, they are really looking ahead of where we are today. HighJump’s long-term vision shows us they are continuing to invest in technology and the tight integration of all its applications gives us the confidence that we have a strong partner who not only executes on a day-to-day basis but is also looking out towards the future,” states Pawer.
